Recent workshop

For those that missed my last workshop at my house here are the projects we did.

The picture includes two versions of the rose card and hot air balloon card, that I had as creative options.

The rose card features the manhattan flower embossing folder. The different looks depend on which side of the embossed paper that your brayer. We used pink pirouette ink and melon mambo paper. This was a simple card to make and makes a big statement. Heres a close-up.

The next card we made featured the Loads of Love stamp set, which is one of my favorites and is sadly retiring.  This one used island indigo paper and the water color pencils. I was plesantly surprised that the brads were able to go through the paper and ribbon.

The next card featured the Up and Away stamp set. I made two options with this one. One included the lace ribbon border punch and some brads from Sale-a-bration. The trick to this one is the cool clouds. I actually used white-out to make them. The balloons were stamped and colored then cut out with a dimensional placed behind them. The paper color is marina mist.

The last card is a cute flip-flop card. It features the greenhouse garden stamp set that is also retiring at the end of the month. (sigh, another favorite) I made a template for the flipflop which was stamped and layered on so saffron paper. The flower was cut out using the big shot and the Fun Flower die. The glitter brad really finished it off.

If you liked these projects please attend my next workshop at the Hyder Gallery. Please see the calendar for more details.

Mother’s Day Card tutorial

Hello everyone, Here is a tutorial for a lovely card I made using the coordinating build a blossom stamp set and punch. I’m following another demonstrators example for the step by step tutorial. enjoy 🙂

Materials: Wisteria Wonder card stock, So saffron cardstock, whisper white card stock, Old Olive card stock, More mustard ink, Perfect Plum ink, build a blossom stamp set, Blossom Petals builder punch, Scallop trim border, perfect words stamp set, 2 1/2 inch circle punch, large pearl.

Start by cutting a piece of Wisteria wonder cardstock in half and folding one of the half pieces in half again. Generally you can make two cards sizes 5 1/2 x 4 from one sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock.

Next take a piece of whisper white card stock with a length of at lease 5 1/2 inches. You can customize the width to make the band thicker or thinner depending on the look you want. Using the scallop trim border trim both of the sides of the band. What I love about these border punches is that you can line the bit that you have already punched with the stickers on the side to make the punched border nice and even.

Next stamp and punch out five flower petals using the more mustard ink on the so saffron paper. You can flip the punch upside down and line the stamp in the punched area. To make the flower easier to place I glued it on a 2 1/2 inch circle cut from a scrap piece of paper. Stamp and punch two leaves using the old olive ink on the old olive paper. Finish the flower with a large pearl or brad.

Glue the white strip and flower onto the card. Be sure to leave enough space for a sentiment to be stamped. I choose “Magnificant the perfect word for you,” from the perfect words stamp set.

Here’s the finished card. I hope you like it. If you live in the Orlando area try to come to my next workshop check the calendar page for more details.

Retirement List

The list is finally out!! I’ve been so nervous about which stamp sets are retiring. As I feared several of my favorites are retiring. These include: Loads of Love, Greenhouse Garden, Cottage Garden, Plant Hope, and God’s Blessings. I will be looking over everyones wish lists I have on file and informing you if you have a set on your wish list that is retiring so you can still order it in time. To check the list yourself go to the buy now tab and follow the link to Stampin Up’s site. They have a special tab for the retirement list.

In exciting news the countdown to the new catalog has started. I will get some new catalogs in May and we will be able to make purchases from the new catalog starting on June 1. This year the catalog will be a great deal smaller and cheaper. This is good news for those who find the current catalog a bit overwhelming. Plus lots of new items!!

My next workshops will be comming soon, the location is still being worked out. Depending how my meeting Thursday goes we may have a new location for workshops besides my garage. LOL. I will let everyone know soon. Until then Happy stamping!

Awesome quilled card

This is a card I got for my recent birthday from my mother-in-law Margaret Carter. She is the one that introduced me to Stampin Up several years ago. She makes amazing cards and I had to share this quilled creation. For those that aren’t familiar with quilling, its a craft that involves twisting thin strips of paper into small shapes and gluing them together. I haven’t gotten into quilling yet, but I can appreciate all the hard work that goes into making it. This card took several hours to create, she wasn’t sure on the exact amount.

Beach themed workshop

This weekend I had a workshop in Jacksonville at my friend Jenny’s house. If you missed it here are the projects we did. The flip-flop card was made with the greenhouse garden stamp set. The coupon book was textured with a sponge in early espresso ink. The scrapbook page featured a beach scene with a lady made from punches.

Sticker boards

My friend commissioned me to design and decorate sticker boards for her children. She saw the idea in a magazine. It’s a great idea for families that use stickers as incentives for their kids. It gives kids a place to display their stickers that doesn’t harm furniture. to create these boards I them a quick coat of paint. I printed out the kids names  on the computer. I used shades of pink Stampin Up paper and punched out butterflies using my Big Shot and the beautiful butterflies die. I added the glitter with basic rhinestones, and attached the ribbon so it could be hung. The paper colors that I used were blushing bride, melon mambo, elegant eggplant, and whisper white.

Judah’s board involved some free hand drawing of the animals, which I colored in with Stampin Up markers. The grass was Stampin Ups more mustard paper.Overall these are two easy and original projects that anyone could make.
